Places I Want to go for Halloween: USA Edition

spooky-mulder

Four weeks until Australia doesn’t celebrate a cool holiday that actually has an interesting history behind it. So when I was thinking of posts for this spooky month, I realised there were so many places in the world I would love to go for October and especially Hallows’ Evening. Naturally I came up with so many that it would be impossible to list them all in one post; even my US locations were going to be a long post, so for today I picked five – all in different states – to show you today.

All these are public areas (except Greystones interior, you need a permit) so you can freely wander and take pictures if allowed. Be mindful if you do visit these places to be respectful of the residents and your surroundings – I know it’s stupid I bring it up but.. people are stupid.

Take Me To… New York

TMT_NYC

Ahhhh.. take me to New York City. Let me see the Big Apple. The City That Never Sleeps.

Feed me in every borough until I’m a bouncing ball. Show me the cool food from Chinatown and Little Italy. Let me get a drink and become a bigger kid again at Two Bit’s Retro Arcade. Give me all of your food and candy, with even more candy. Oh, and do NOT skimp on the bagels (a tub of cream cheese on the side too, please).

Let me go balls-to-the-wall crazy and have the biggest walking adventure. Actually, let me walk around, find where some of my favourite movies were filmed, including the Ghostbusters Firehouse. Take me to photograph Pier 54, where the Titanic’s survivors arrived. Let me find some Toynbee Tiles!

Show me drunk performers performing Shakespeare. Show me the Mysterious Bookshop (that’s the name too!). Let me see oddities at The Evolution Store and the Obscura Antiques And Oddities… maybe take a walk on the wild side to the Museum of Sex or the Museum of the American Gangster.

Later, let me see the wonderful cats of Roosevelt Island and when I want some peace and quiet, let me in The Elevated Acre or the Creative Little Garden.

When I’m tired and need somewhere to relax, let me rest in the NoMad Hotel library, perhaps read a comic or two.

Then I’ll turn in, get some sleep to be ready to do it all over again tomorrow…
